Two out of three workers have changed jobs because of a lack of learning and development opportunities, according to new research.

A survey of over 2,500 employees by totaljobs showed that most wanted their employer to offer more training courses to develop new skills.

A separate study of almost 100 employers found that most agreed their staff performed better after training.

David Clift of totaljobs said: “This research shows that there is a keen workforce looking to upskill and improve, so new skills and talents may well be right under their nose.”

The report was published ahead of the latest official unemployment figures on Wednesday.

Last month’s data showed a record 32 million people were in work.
