Three men have been arrested over the death of a man on holiday in Turkey a day after he was involved in a row at a pub in Lancashire.

Simon Marx, 42, died in Fethiye in the Aegean region of the country on October 8 last year.

A post-mortem examination later established he died from a blunt head trauma.

Detectives believe the injury was sustained in an incident at the Newton Arms in Staining Road, Blackpool, at about 12.20am on Saturday October 7.

On Thursday, Lancashire Police said they had arrested three men – two aged 29 and one aged 54 – from Blackpool on suspicion of murder.

One of the 29-year-old men arrested is also being questioned on suspicion of wounding in relation to a second person who was injured during the altercation.

Detectives are encouraging witnesses or anyone with information about the events leading up to Mr Marx’s death to come forward.

They particularly want to identify a man who may have spoken to Mr Marx in Winstons Bar in Highfield Road, Blackpool, at about 1am on October 7.

Det Ch Insp Gareth Willis, of Blackpool Police, said: “We have arrested three men in connection with this offence and they are currently in custody.

“Our investigation remains ongoing, and while we have made these arrests, we would still urge anyone with information which could prove significant, to come forward.

“We have released a new image as part of our investigation and would urge anyone who recognises the man to let us know. He is not a suspect, but we believe he may be able to help us with our enquiries.”

“These are tragic circumstances and sadly a man has lost his life. Our thoughts remain with his friends and family at this time.”

Anybody with information should contact 101, quoting log number 40 of October 7th.
