A man is to be reported to prosecutors over a second death at a block of flats in Oban.
Oskars Rancevs, 32, was arrested over the death of Martyn Smith, 73, who was found injured in Columba Court on Monday morning.
Mr Smith was taken to the town’s Lorn and Islands Hospital but he later died.
Rancevs appeared in private at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Tuesday charged with murder.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody, with the case continued for further examination.
A force spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that a 32-year-old man will be reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with the death of John White, who was found within a flat in Columba Court, Oban, around 8pm on Monday October 1.”
