Two black men who were arrested for sitting at a Philadelphia Starbucks without ordering anything have settled with the city for a symbolic single dollar each, and a promise from officials to set up a 200,000-dollar (£146,000) programme for young entrepreneurs.
The men’s lawyer and city mayor Jim Kenney outlined the agreement to The Associated Press.
The arrest of Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson at the coffee shop on April 12 sparked a furore around the US over racial profiling.
The men said they were waiting for a business meeting about a potential property deal.
Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson came to Philadelphia to personally apologise to the men. He also announced Starbucks shops would close on May 29 for training on bias.
