The skilful midfielder, who won his first Muratti caps in May’s two Murattis against Guernsey, has been replaced by St Peter defender Scott Kelly. The replacement is the third change in manager Dave Matthews’ squad in a week following illness to Jordan Docherty and the unavailability of Jersey player of the year David Lloyd.Matthews said: ‘It’s a big blow losing three players in a week but I’m happy with all the replacements.
Scott coming in gives me four recognised central defenders in the squad and I’m delighted about that.’It’s not just a case of picking up anybody, all the new additions have kept themselves fit and that is very important as we have a tough week of competition ahead of us.’Of the three recent additions, Kelly and Haydn Bechemain (Magpies) were players of the year at their clubs while Allan Brown (Trinity) was man-of-the-match in the Upton against Guernsey’s Vale Recreation.Matthews added: ‘The current squad players all appreciation that those coming in have had good seasons with their clubs.
We also have to take into consideration that they will be accepted as they will be living together as a group for a week.’Jersey’s football squad will live in tracksuits and red and white kit in Guernsey.’There will be no suits or casual gear with my squad, we are going to Guernsey for a week of sport and when we have free time we will supporting the Jersey team in other sports.’We are not going on a jolly and there is an alcohol ban in place until the football is over,’ said Matthews.’Discipline is vitally important to everybody and if we are successful on and off the field then we will gives ourselves a chance of attracting sponsorship to help us enter the South West Counties Championship again next season.’Jersey’s opening match is against Froya, at Northfield were they play all their Group A matches, on Sunday.
