Until yesterday, the Constable Simon Crowcroft and Procureurs had supported plans for the parish to cede part of the parish car park adjacent to the property in exchange for ridding the parish of responsibility for keeping the rockface secure. An approach was made to the parish on behalf of Dandara (Jersey) Ltd to do the deal.
However, at last night’s parish assembly, the item was removed from the agenda after the Constable said that parish support had been withdrawn.Town surveyor Peter Noble said the owners had not agreed to the condition of the deal.As the main aim of the parish had been to remove its liability over ownership of the rockface, there was now no point in the deal going ahead, he said.
