Dr Harvey, who became MOH in December 2000 following the retirement of Dr Richard Grainger, will leave at the end of September to take up a reader/professorship in public health for Havering Primary Care Trust and Southwark University.He came to the Island in February 1998 after being appointed Consultant in Public Health Medicine.That role included assessing the needs of the population and responding to those requirements within an integrated health framework.Acting chief executive Anton Skinner said that Dr Harvey had been an extremely important member of the Health and Social Services team who had more recently undertaken a review of future integrated health care requirements.The post of MOH is due to be advertised locally and nationally shortly.Meanwhile, the post of chief executive will also be advertised within the next few weeks.Following the retirement through ill health of the previous postholder Graham Jennings, the post has been carried out for the past 14 months in an acting role by Mr Skinner who is also director of Community and Social Services.
