That is the assurance given by David Lammy MP, the Island’s new link with Westminster.Speaking to the Jersey Evening Post by telephone, Mr Lammy said the constitutional arrangements had worked well for many years.

Reform was in the air within the UK government, he said, but Jersey would not be affected. He also said that there were no plans to cast the spotlight onto the Bailiff’s dual role as head of the Island’s judiciary and legislature.’The Island has got its own constitutional arrangements and it is not for me to comment or express a view on the role of the Bailiff,’ he said.

‘It is quite rightly a matter for the people of Jersey.’
