Senator Ted Vibert, a member of the unofficial working party, said that they had been contacted by five civil servants over the weekend, all keen to spill the beans on where money was being wasted.’We have been told of five more examples of waste, all from public servants,’ said Senator Vibert.’For instance, the public would be amazed to find out what happens at the end of the budget year when it comes to stacking up the stationery cupboard.’When there was money left over, he explained, it was spent to avoid the budget being cut.
‘There is enough (paper) to sink a battleship in one department, apparently,’ he said.
