Three jailed for drug money laundering

He is expected to be placed in the vulnerable person’s unit at La Moye for his own protection during the four-year stretch.

O’Brien was sentenced after admitting laundering the proceeds made from smuggling heroin, cannabis, speed and ecstasy.

He has already served half of a six-year sentence in a UK prison for drug trafficking.His estranged wife Yvonne Edmond-O’Brien (54) and his old friend Michael Joseph Dunne (56) were also jailed.

Edmond-O’Brien was sentenced to seven years and Dunne to nine.

Both had denied being involved in what was described in court as a ‘highly sophisticated international drug money laundering operation’.
