He’s been playing superbly all year and is probably the best junior on the Island at the moment.’Kyle Turmel is the highest handicapper in the Island squad.

They’ve got six weeks off school and have been playing most days, and their handicaps are coming down,’ Crenan said.Eight clubs were represented in the competition, including Alresford in Hampshire, whose Ed Peck played extremely well on a course he had never even seen, let alone played on, to beat Guelpa on count back in the scratch competition.Of the other youngsters competing, Crenan said that he was delighted to see Harrison Moore’s 26 handicap finally come down.’He hits harder than any other junior but his shots are a bit wayward, so he did well, and Seb Brown’s 72 was a super score for him.

He’s still only 15 and, playing like this, a definite for the Island team next year.’
