Up to 30 youths in the Nicholson Close area of Grands Vaux held up banners and asked passing motorists to beep their horns in support. They were trying to prevent a move by the Housing Committee to knock down the park because, according to the department, it has become a focus for teenage vandals.A special meeting has been hastily organised for 6 pm this evening at the Grands Vaux Youth Centre to discuss the matter.

A number of politicians will be present.Parents of those children affected have also sent a letter to Housing president Deputy Terry Le Main asking for a chance to air their views with a member of the committee.
