At a nominations meeting at the parish hall last night, both Bruce Willing and Daniel Murphy put their names forward as candidates.In Mr Amy’s absence, Chef de Police Charles Dix chaired the meeting, which lasted the statutory 20 minutes.It is the first time an election for the role of Constable in Grouville is to be held since Harold Bree out-polled Philip Le Cras in 1954.Both proposers at last night’s meeting paid tribute to Mr Amy, gave their regards to his family and also looked back at some of his achievements.The date of the election has been set for 17 September, with the new Constable being sworn in by the Royal Court two days later.
The hustings meeting will be held at Grouville Parish hall on 3 September.
