When 17-month-old Ella-Louise Smith ran out into the road in front of a car on St Clement’s coast road, her friend and next-door neighbour Skye Oeillet reacted instinctively, grabbing her by the T-shirt and pulling her back.The Smith family were on holiday in the Island and had been getting ready to go out when Ella-Louise ran past her father and into the road as a car came down the hill from the direction of Le Hocq.The car just missed Ella-Louise, who was pulled back on to the pavement by her playmate Skye, the daughter of Trudy and Chris Oeillet.The family are due to return to their home in South Africa today.
Ella-Louise’s mother said: ‘Ella-Louise owes her life to Skye.
No words can express how grateful I am to her.’
