Jersey’s golfers went down to a heavy defeat, 13 points to seven, in their annual battle at L’Ancresse, but Sporting Club Franais made it four Upton wins in a row by defeating Sarnian cricket champions Wanderers at Grainville.Jersey had a clean sweep of individual and team honours in the 2003 Ogier Jersey Triathlon yesterday morning, but despite a tremendous second day revival in the track and field inter-insular at the FB Fields – winning the boys and girls U13s and the men’s U17 sections – the Island side conceded overall honours to their weekend guests.In the Le Quesne bowls Jersey’s men travelled well to overturn a deficit from the first leg, but in the one-off contest for the ladies’ trophy Guernsey enjoyed a convincing victory.Softball’s ‘Upton’ honours went the way of Rookies, who beat Jersey’s Wheway Wildcats II 19-8.The Sarnians also fared the better in the inter-island football club competitions, Vale Rec beating Jersey’s CI champs Trinity 3-1 in the Jeremie Cup – a replay of last season’s Upton – while Grouville lost on penalties to Guernsey Rovers in the WJ Collins Memorial.
However, Jersey Wanderers, despite only having ten men from the first minute rallied to beat Guernsey St Martin’s 1-0 after extra-time.
