The Genuine Jersey Products Association, which originated within the old Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, was relaunched in 2001 by a group of organisations as a non-profit making association to promote those products which are produced in Jersey, and thus can be regarded by visitors and residents alike as being ‘genuinely local’.More than two dozen local organisations producing goods as diverse as pottery, wine and furniture now belong to the association and more than 50 growers are also members.Mr Marett-Crosby assumes the role filled first by Peter Taylor and then David Green as the chairman of the association’s management committee.

He has a background in the wine trade, and has built up a significant reputation, both locally and further afield as a writer and broadcaster on a variety of topics.
