Managing people’s property for all of that time, Mr Slingsby is now at the helm of his own company.
He worked for real estate services firm Healey & Baker for 19 years before joining Gaudin & Co earlier this year.
He then decided to go it alone and formed Slingsby Property Services in September.
‘A few years ago a landlord could get away with more or less anything and stick a tenant in it,’ he said.
‘But now you have to offer a decent level of accommodation and it is wise to establish a good landlord-tenant relationship, especially as rents have stabilised and even fallen in recent times.
