Indoor cricket: Leaders beaten by Abbey

This week OVs lost their first game of the season, to Abbey International, who have games in hand.

They were fielding a weakened side against Abbey International, whose win moved them up to second place with games in hand.

Batting first, OVs only managed a below par 79 for four from their 12 overs, helped by no fewer than 22 extras from some wayward bowling.

The early wicket of Ryan Driver proved to be a false hope for the OVs and Ryan Duplessis and Nigel Crocker, both 27 not out, saw Abbey to a comfortable win in the tenth over.

Leaders Pentagon came up against second-placed Centurions in Division II, both teams having lost their matches – unexpectedly – on Friday night.

Batting first, Centurions were indebted to the ever-consistent Danny Bertram with 42 and Elanco with 36, for their total of 108 from their 12 overs.

Pentagon’s batsmen failed to take their chances in reply, against a weakened bowling attack, and were all out for 100, Parsons top-scoring with 54 to leave the teams tied at the top.
