Planning approval was given by the Environment and Public Services Committee yesterday and has been welcomed by the Constable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft.
With 16 businesses interested in running the café, Mr Crowcroft said it was exciting news for the town and the public.
‘The parish and Public Services will work together to look at the offers from businesses to see exactly what they intend to provide to enhance the area most,’ he said.
Mr Crowcroft hopes the café will bring a continental feel to the centre of town.
