The all-day talks were hosted by the Jersey Advisory and Conciliation Service and broke up without any agreement.

No comment on the details of the discussions was forthcoming today.

Transport and General Workers Union representative Nick Corbel said he would outline what was discussed to his members’ branch meetings to be held tomorrow and Wednesday.

JACS director David Witherington said: ‘Neither party believe it would be helpful for any further comment to be made at this point in time.’ The union is seeking a six per cent one year pay deal but has been offered 2.5 per cent for this year and one per cent below the rate of inflation for next year.
