Hotel fire: Arson is ruled out

Fire Service experts, police scenes-of-crime officers as well as a UK forensic specialist have concluded that the Stafford Hotel blaze on Tuesday was not started deliberately.

A faulty TV is thought to have been the likely cause.

Firefighters were scrambled to the Kensington Place premises shortly after 10.45 pm on Tuesday.

They arrived to find the foyer well alight, and the build-up of heat was so great that the glass doors shattered as they approached.
