The Stade Rennais man, who won the half marathon title two years ago, starts Sunday’s Jersey Spartan Spring 10K race as favourite in the men’s race.
But he is expected to face tough opposition from 2003 winner Ken White plus Dave Ibbotson and Jon Coote who will be among an expected field of well over 200 – club officials reported a late flood of entries this week.
The favourite for the women’s race is Sarah Bruce with her rivals Norma Mahoney, Carol Knight and Amanda Brown.
Whatever happens there will be new names on the honours board with last year’s winners Jo McGarry and Nick Gorrod missing from the line up.
On a fast, flat course the first runner over the line is expected in around 34 minutes.
The race starts at Route des Laveurs, just off the Five Mile Road, at 9 am.
Entries cost £5 for Spartan members or £6 for unaffiliated runners.
Entries on the day will cost £20.
n The race is sponsored by Fitness First.
