He is angry about the States decision to press ahead with the Fiscal Strategy debate last week before the end of the scrutiny review, and says that he nearly followed the lead of panel member Deputy Gerard Baudains who resigned saying that scrutiny work was a waste of time.
Senator Walker denies the suggestions, saying that he is a strong supporter of the scrutiny process but adding that reviews have to fit into a reasonable timetable.
He says that the review could have been published in time had work begun when the Fiscal Strategy was published in early March, rather than weeks later.
‘It was clear to me that Senator Walker supports the scrutiny process provided it does not get too serious and start asking real questions,’ said Senator Vibert.
