However, he has not been given his old job back and has been demoted to a post on a lower grade.
The man was dismissed from his post after a mistake led to some people being paid 100 times the amount they were due to get in their weekly pay packets.

Following an inquiry the civil servant in question was dismissed, but he appealed against his dismissal to the Policy and Resources Committee’s human resources sub-committee.
A hearing was held on 6 June at which the sub-committee deemed the officer’s actions to have been on the borderline of gross misconduct and very serious misconduct.
As a result, the sub-committee reduced his punishment from dismissal to a less serious outcome and he has now been reinstated.
