A total of £130,000 was raised for local charities in last year’s event and it is hoped that over £100,000 will once again be raised this year.
The major recipients this year will be the Jersey Friends of Childline, Jersey Women’s Refuge, Ridout House and Jersey Hospice Care.
Nine smaller charities also benefit from donations raised by walkers, every penny of which goes to charity.
The organisation of the annual walk is being co-ordinated by Itex and the Rotary Club de la Manche, who are involved for the fourth year in a row.
