Their combined score then was 247, a disappointing return, although the conditions were tough over the links course on a small island off the west coast.
But coming to the Games was always about development, and they made significant strides over Shetland GC’s course at Dale yesterday, improving their combined score by 22 strokes despite even worse weather conditions.
La Moye’s Seb Brown (17), the top scorer on Tuesday with 81, cut his first-round score by eight strokes to card 73 and place 18th with two rounds to play in the individual section.
He is still 11 strokes off the leader, Bobby Eggo of Guernsey, who shot a brilliant 69, but Brown is definitely moving in the right direction.
