Medal winners head for home

The Island finished third in the medals table with 33 golds, one behind second-placed the Isle of Man.

Guernsey topped the table with 40 golds.

Jersey also picked up 28 silver and 32 bronze.

Widely accepted as an under-strength side in some of the 14 sports, the team competed in the true nature of the ‘Friendly Games’ and can be proud of what they achieved in just six days.

But last night the 24 teams from around the world partied into the small hours at the closing party held in the Clickimin sport centre in Lerwick to end a fabulous week for all involved.
