The sixth-form team of Chantelle Arnold and Hannah Matson from Beaulieu and Alex Watson from De La Salle College were taken to the London office of JWT – formerly called J.
Walter Thompson – and the headquarters of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising after winning a competition organised by the Image Group design, marketing and public relations company to create a launch campaign for a Fairtrade coffee shop in St Helier.
JWT was arguably the world’s first advertising agency, founded in 1864 and is currently the fourth largest advertising agency brand in the world.
Image’s Group client services director, Jason MacKenzie, who accompanied the students, said: ‘Graphic design, media studies, public relations and related degrees are now extremely popular among local students.
For that reason we believe that local businesses must engage sixth formers and encourage them to invest their talent into growing the local economy.
‘We believe that Jersey can become a creative centre of excellence servicing local, UK and European clients.
I hope this visit has given these students an insight into the exciting career opportunities available.
