Det Insp Allister Hunter, of the investigation team from Devon and Cornwall Police, said there was no way Deborah Gardiner could have survived the accident in Grande Route de la C?te, St Clement at around 1 pm that day.
Mrs Gardiner (37) had been married just eight weeks when the red sports car she was driving was in collision with a marked police car answering an emergency call.
Her husband, David Gardiner (39), a passenger in the car, was said by doctors to be recovering well in the General Hospital.
At the opening of the inquest this morning, the Deputy Viscount, Peter de Gruchy, said ‘All I am concerned with are the first three questions of who died, where and when.
The how is for another day.’ The inquest was adjourned for a date to be fixed for the next hearing.
