The event on Tuesday 27 September, entitled ‘What you always wanted to know about hedge funds in Jersey but were too busy to ask’, is designed for key managers, advisers and brokers.

The venue chosen by organisers Jersey Finance Ltd and the Jersey Funds Association is 4 Hailton Place, Mayfair.

Chairing the conference will be Rod Sparks, publisher and managing editor of Hedge Fund Journal.

On the panel of experts will be Christopher Hilditch of Schulte Roth and Zabel International, one of the leading hedge fund practices in the United States and Europe.

Mr Hilditch, a former partner at Maples & Calder Europe, is listed as a leading hedge fund lawyer in the Who’s Who of private fund lawyers and the Who’s Who of Professionals.

Jersey participants include Helen Hatton, deputy director general of the Jersey Financial Services Commission; Martin Paul, partner at Bedell Cristin; Wendy Dorman, director of tax at Deloitte; and Richard Boléat, principal of Channel House Group.

Gary Clark, chairman of the Jersey Funds Association, said although the changes to regulation had already brought in a significant increase in business, the Island needed ongoing promotion to foster new contacts.

‘We need to try and land a good number of quality businesses.

The conference will be trying to attract some major investors and lawyers and the challenge is to get enough of the right people interested.

If you can attract 20, it is easier to attract another 20,’ he said.
