Property federation sets up working party as UK clampdown fears grow

Some industry sources believe that the UK Revenue and Customs could make an announcement towards the end of the month in the pre-budget report.

Federation chief executive Liz Peace said that the organisation was keen to be ‘proactive rather than reactive’ in this instance.

‘We have heard it from so many sources, so we have had to take it seriously,’ she said.

‘We don’t think the Treasury will be hasty, but we worry in case they throw the baby out with the bathwater.

There are people in our working group who were instrumental in making the seeding relief legislation.

‘We think there are better ways of doing things, and we are extremely keen to help HMRC, which has got to be better than running after them from behind.
