In London yesterday Jersey estate agents Choice Properties, who have a Mayfair office, introduced an initiative to more than 130 UK counterparts in the hope of attracting more outside buyers.
Company directors Gill Hunt and Christine Mauger spoke of Jersey as a safe Island, emphasising the rich heritage, investment in tourism and its position as an ideal base for wealthy individuals and successful businesses.
Mrs Hunt said: ‘It went well – many people came up afterwards to ask us more about Jersey.
Until now people have generally thought of Jersey as a closed shop, but I think we managed to raise more awareness about the Island as a good place for relocation and let people know that we are very much opening our doors for business.’ Miss Mauger said: ‘We shall now be giving out information packs and marketing the Island as best we can.
We hope that we shall be able to obtain a lot of press coverage in the UK for any Island residents wishing to sell their properties.
The main focus now is to continue raising awareness of Jersey.’ Jersey’s director of high-value residency, Nigel Philpott, said that yesterday’s move was part of a new States project, Reflect on Jersey, which aims to serve a growing interest from outsiders hoping to relocate to the Island.
