John Edward Conroy (27) was sentenced by the Royal Court to 13 months in prison, but was released having served the time in custody.
Crown Advocate Robin Morris said that Conroy came to the Island from Weymouth on a day trip in February with his girlfriend, but was stopped and searched after routine questioning led officers to believe he had drugs.
A urine sample confirmed traces of cocaine, cannabis and benzodiazepines (sleeping pills) and Conroy was taken to hospital for an X-ray, where a package was identified inside him.
He was detained at Customs, where he became extremely aggressive, threatened to kill officers, pulled ceiling panels down and smashed the cell’s CCTV camera.
