Det insp Alan Aubert, a former drugs squad head, revealed that the female officer had aroused suspicion by asking for details of the anti-smuggling investigation sparked by the seizure.
It was also disclosed that the drugs squad took no photographs or measurements in a field in L’Etacq where a record 90 kg of cannabis was found.
Det insp Aubert’s testimony followed revelations on Wednesday that an anti-corruption investigation, codenamed Operation Postbox, was launched amid allegations that a male officer had been asked to access police files for the suspected major dealer (Mr X).
Both officers’ homes, as well as that of Mr X, were searched in relation to inquiries into plots to smuggle drugs into the Island.
