Competing at Lilleshall, she was up against her peers from around the country, but still emerged as champion.
And later in the weekend, in another part of the competition, she beat the new U18 champion to confirm her status in the top echelons of the sport.
She has now been drafted into the Hampshire team.
Her father Tony said: ‘Lucy was spotted by the Hampshire scout who said she didn’t need to take part in any qualifying matches, he just wants her in the squad! She had a very good weekend, and, to be honest, wiped the floor with her opponents.’ Recently turned 15, Lucy has already qualified for the World Championships, and beat all-comers recently in the U18 age-group of the Cherbourg indoor championship to claim that age group title.
