Tired of waiting for Island authorities to make a decision about the siting of a new skateboard park, members of the Channel Islands Skateboarding Association organised a nine-hour event to raise money to build a new mini-ramp.

Co-ordinated by Mark Evans and Philip Minty, the marathon, which featured 13 bands, proved a big attraction for young people wanting to support the cause.

The aim was to make at least £1,000 to fund the building of a small ramp at one of the youth clubs in an area accessible to the Island’s skateboarding enthusiasts.
