But the allegations and claims for damages made by Michael Green against the Jersey Heritage Trust are being contested in the case that was first filed in 2003.
Mr Green’s dismissal from his post in August 2001 followed a period of sickness of 25 weeks.
But he contends in his pleadings that the sickness was prompted by his employer instituting disciplinary proceedings against him.
As a result, he alleges there are terms within his contract of employment that should have protected him from being dismissed.
But the Jersey Heritage Trust claim that Mr Green would have been dismissed for gross misconduct following an internal disciplinary inquiry had he not been absent from work for 25 weeks.
