The two-day session had two main aims, the first of which was to make an access path to La Hougue des Platons, a Neolithic burial tomb belonging to La Société Jersiaise, where the Jersey Heritage Trust have erected an interpretation board.
The second task involved the clearance of a large area of tough gorse on National Trust for Jersey land to return the site to heather heathland.
Conservationist Mike Stentiford said the group were delighted with the response by volunteers – 25 had turned up for the three-hour sessions on both days and made a significant contribution by their efforts.
‘Now the gorse has been cleared from the headland there should be a wonderful display of bright purple heather in the area from early summer to September,’ he said.
