Jersey’s link with the Labour government, Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer , has welcomed moves by the Crown Dependencies – Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man – to forge their own international personalities and to stand on their own feet on the world stage.
And he has pledged to help the Crown Dependencies build a framework for developing their own personalities, which will be presented to himself and the Chief Ministers of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man for agreement before the end of the year.
Chief Minister Frank Walker has emphasised the importance of Jersey’s international profile so it can negotiate for itself on areas like tax reform, promote itself as a business jurisdiction and maintain cultural independence.
