A mini riot broke out after Trinity Reserves player Stephen Jones was allegedly hit by Grouville Reserves player Mark Grenyer.
The mêlée involved most of the players, and referee Neil Giannoni was forced to abandon the game.
Mr Jones was allegedly punched as the Grouville player was leaving the field, having been sent off by the referee for a second yellow card offence.
Mr Jones himself was also about to be sent off when the incident happened in the 50th minute of the match at Grouville’s Le Boulivot ground.
The matter was reported to the States police by Mr Jones on the advice of his club.
He said he sustained jaw injuries, a black eye and bruising to his head.
