Phone mast pledge by telecoms chief

Lord Robertson of Port Ellen , who last night dined with Chief Minister Frank Walker, the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, other politicians and dignitaries, said the global firm was ‘very sensitive to environmental issues’ and always acted within government guidelines.

Cable & Wireless is one of four companies recently licensed to operate a mobile phone service in Jersey.

Last week the company submitted nine planning applications to erect masts in various locations in the Island.
