The Constable and riders from Vélo Sport Jersey have clashed on two occasions after he pulled up in his car to stop them.

But the club’s vice-president, Peter Derrick, said that Mr Murphy was being unreasonable.

On the first occasion, when the Constable’s unmarked car halted abruptly in front of the group, two members fell off their bikes.

The Constable accuses the cyclists of being rude, riding dangerously and having broken an agreement only to ride through the parish before 8.30 am on weekend mornings.
