Opening the Planet Jersey exhibition at the RJAHS building this morning, Senator Cohen told them that the government needed to think ahead about how climate change and rising sea levels would affect the Island and how to be prepared.
He said his department was in charge of protecting the environment for the benefit of everyone and it was a team effort, working closely with other States departments and organisations.
‘Perhaps most importantly of all, we need your help for us all to share responsibility for this precious resource and ensure we hand it over to you and your children in as good a state as our parents and grandparents gave it to us – maybe even better,’ he said.
Planet Jersey is being hosted this weekend by the Jersey Environment Forum with Pete Double from the Environment Department as co-ordinator.
