Drug money laundering conviction to be reinstated

Yvonne Edmond O’Brien was sent to prison for drug money laundering in 2003, but walked free from her seven-year jail sentence in November 2003, after the Court of Appeal overturned her conviction.

However, a further appeal was then taken by the Attorney General, William Bailhache, to the Privy Council, the highest authority that can decide on the case.

The Council recommended to the Queen that the conviction should be reinstated.
