On 8 March 2005, as the theatre was facing insolvency and closure within days, an appeal was launched by Jersey Opera House Ltd for public donations to an independent foundation to help ease the financial situation in the short-term and to help develop programming in the long term.
The Phoenix Foundation had already received £30,000 at the time of the launch and by 18 March it was reported that a further £40,000 had been pledged.
In all, £79,008 was pledged.
However, the amount in the Phoenix Foundation bank account currently stands at £38,660 with a further £18,018 held by the Jersey Arts Trust which represents the balance of the Jersey Opera House restoration appeal fund.
