Hospital beds plan shows that change is on the way

Following a full review of respite and continuing care in the Island, the Health Department has decided to close the McKinstry and Léoville wards, and instead of rebuilding them, purchase the private care.

There will no be job losses in the move, which is part of the department’s long-term care strategy, and the cost of buying the beds will be less than the cost of rebuilding the hospital wards, although a definite figure has not been released.
