Flooding facts prompt call to scrap planned homes

Last week the UK Environment Agency said planning authorities should not approve any new development on flood plains or in areas where flooding was a known risk.

Parish Deputy Deidre Mezbourian said she wants Planning to study the agency’s advice as there is a history of flooding in the Goose Green Marsh and Sandybrook areas.

‘I would expect Planning to look at the advice and then apply what they learn to similar situations in Jersey.

The flood issue has been one of the main concerns of the parish regarding this development.’
