Crunch day looms for shellfish application

Since the Jersey Oyster Company first applied for in-principle planning permission to put a processing unit and staff quarters on a field in Grouville, 400 people have signed a petition against the idea, a public meeting has been held and a States vote on the matter has resulted in a 50/50 split.

A report by planning officers recommends that the planning applications panel should approve the principle of the processing building, but suggests that they should not give the go-ahead for the separate staff accommodation.
