Islanders are now being asked to help Sister Judith Routier by collecting funds to aid those affected by Friday’s disaster.
Sister Judith was born in Jersey and has lived in the Philippines for seven years.
She works on the Island where the landslide happened, and has been ferrying aid to those who were evacuated from their homes.
Her brother, Senator Paul Routier, said his first concern was for her safety when he heard an entire village had been buried when the slope of a mountain collapsed.
‘I sent her a text when it first happened, and she said she was ok because she was away from that particular area,’ he said.
Senator Routier can be contacted on 725736, or e-mailed at paul.routier@jerseymail.co.uk.
