The haul, which was enough to make as many as 44,000 heroin wraps, had a street value of up to £2.2 million.

Crown Advocate Julian Gollop called for a 22-year sentence for Darren Andrews (30), and 17 years for Joao Andrade (28), who both admitted being involved in the importation of the drug into the Island.

He called for a sentence of six years for ‘gopher’ William Swinburne (49), who pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug, plus a further month for contempt of court for failing to return from London after a hospital visit.
